# Onboarding MCP

Let an assistant start a signup handoff while the user completes account creation.

## Connect the public server

Use `https://api.kastra.ai/mcp` in a compatible MCP client. No tenant credential is needed to begin onboarding. The public tools are `kastra_start_signup` and `kastra_signup_status`.

## Complete the handoff

The start tool returns a browser signup link and handoff information. The user opens the link and completes normal signup, verification, and applicable consent. The status tool checks the handoff state; it does not grant access to private tenant data.

The current offer is a 15-day Pro trial, not a permanent Free plan. Do not describe the handoff as creating a finished account entirely inside chat.

After signup, connect the [account MCP](https://docs.kastra.ai/mcp/account) to inspect governance data, install [Edge](https://docs.kastra.ai/edge/install) to govern supported local hooks, or configure the [proxy](https://docs.kastra.ai/proxy/overview) for an application. Public onboarding is not public tenant evaluation, approval authority, or a downstream MCP gateway.
